At Lervis evening courses, you get to be part of the entire ceramic journey – from clay to finished product. 

In an evening course, you get plenty of time to create and the opportunity to find inspiration between sessions, which is usually very developmental. In the course, we go through throwing, trimming, coiling, and slab building. However, there is also flexibility to adapt the structure based on the participants' wishes.

The course is suitable for both complete beginners and those with previous experience who want to deepen their techniques. Teaching takes place through joint instruction in the various steps as well as individual guidance and feedback based on your personal skill level. You have good opportunities to develop if you take multiple courses.

Feel free to prepare by finding inspiration for what you would like to create during the course. We offer coffee/tea at every session, and if you would like something to eat, please bring it with you.

Sofia is an active artist, potter, and educator with a studio in Hjo. She has many years of experience in ceramics and art.

GLAZING approx. 3 hrs
After December 2nd, the pieces must be bisque-fired before it is time to glaze in January. After that, it will take another approx. 3-4 weeks (while the ceramics are glaze-fired) before you can come and pick up your finished work.

LOCATION & PRICE
The course is held at the Lervis ceramic studio, which is located 10 km south of Hjo in the small village of Äskelid. The course fee is paid here in the webshop, and an additional material cost of 100 SEK/kg for the finished fired goods applies, which you pay when you pick up your finished pieces.

CANCELLATION & REFUNDS
When you pay for the course, you are automatically registered and booked in your name for the course you purchase. The fee is not refunded for cancellations made later than 1 week before the course starts. As a participant, however, you can transfer your spot to someone else if desired. In that case, you need to notify us of the name of the person taking over your course spot at info@lervis.se

Should the course not be fully booked, we will move it to the spring semester, and if the course is canceled by Lervis, the full amount will be refunded.

  • Vi rekommenderar följande brännkurva för skröjbränning:
    -600 °C med en uppvärmningshastighet på 80 °C/h ≙ ca 7,5 timmars uppvärmningstid 
    600–950 °C med en uppvärmningshastighet på 100 °C/h ≙ ca 3,5 timmars uppvärmningstid följt av en hålltid på 30 minuter
    Låt svalna utan reglering

    Vi rekommenderar följande brännkurva för glasyrbränning:
    -600 °C med en uppvärmningshastighet på 120 °C/h ≙ ca 5,0 timmars uppvärmningstid
    600 °C upp till önskad bränntemperatur med en uppvärmningshastighet på 140 °C/h följt av en hålltid på 30 minuter
    Låt svalna utan reglering 

  • If you are a beginner, we recommend using a clay that works for several different techniques. One that contains approximately 25% chamotte with a grain size of up to 0.2mm.

    If you want a light-colored clay, I recommend clay no. 254
    If you want a speckled clay, I recommend clay no. 930

    Both of these also work well with all glazes.

  • Feel free to check out our Beginner's Guide to throwing!

  • We ship orders Monday, Wednesday, and Friday via DHL, and pallets are sometimes shipped with DSV. Delivery time is normally 2-4 business days within Sweden. Pallet shipments may take slightly longer.

  • No, ceramics must be fired in a special kiln at very high temperatures (over 1000°C-1300°C).

    If you are working with air-drying clay, it does not need to be fired at all. Read more about clay no. 751.

  • The choice of glaze depends on your clay and the desired effect. Please feel free to contact us – we will help you find the right glaze for your project and your type of clay.

  • Lervis offers a wide range of different workshops and courses. Everything from short beginner courses (Try pottery) to longer courses with guest teachers who are experts in various ceramic techniques.

    You can find all courses in the main menu under "Ceramic courses".

  • You have the right to cancel your purchase within 14 days of receiving the item, in accordance with the Distance Contracts Act.

    Terms for returns

    • Items must be unused and in original condition when returned.
    • The customer pays for return shipping.
    • Refunds are processed once the item has been received and approved by Lervis.
