LEARN TO CREATE & USE PLASTER MOULDS
Sign up for our inspiring weekend course where you will explore the possibilities of plaster molds under the guidance of ceramist and educator Anna Wennerstrand. With 30 years of experience and a passion for the shapes and patterns of nature, Anna will guide us through every step of the process of creating and using plaster molds.
A plaster mold makes it possible to make many copies of an object. A sculpture, shape, fruit or vegetable is cast, or an original for a tile slab. This mold is then used to press clay into, for a perfect casting. The same molds can also be used for molding clay. In this way, the mold becomes hollow and good for firing.
The course is suitable for both complete beginners and those with previous experience of other techniques in ceramics. The teaching takes the form of joint instruction in the different elements as well as individual supervision based on personal knowledge level.
Bring 1-2 shapes, small sculptures, vegetables or anything else you would like to cast.
You bring your own lunch for both days. We will provide afternoon coffee!
SATURDAY 11-16
We will learn the basics of plaster molds and create our own unique molds. We will go over how to make a plaster mold of a sculpture, fruit, vegetable or make a relief for a tile.
SUNDAY 11-16
Now we use the newly made plaster molds and press clay into them, creating hollow shapes that are then allowed to dry and fire.
FIRING & GLAZING
If you have your own kiln, you can bring your creations home and shape and fire them yourself. If you want help with this, we can do it at Lervis Ceramics Workshop. We will talk to you during the course when we see what demand there is.
